Prevent It!

Leakage of solid, liquid or gas from the back passage is devastating for both men and women of all ages. The term 'anal incontinence' is used for this type of involuntary leakage. It seriously affects the quality of life of the sufferer who may prefer to sleep alone. Faecal leakage (soiling) may accompany urinary leakage or it may be a separate condition.

Fortunately there are a number of options to treat and manage both these types of leakage. This book will explain why faecal leakage happens, what can be done to stop it happening, and include tips on how to prevent recurrence. It will also explain how and when to tighten the pelvic floor muscles as part of an exercise recovery programme. These exercises can be performed by men and women without leakage in order to prevent problems occurring in the future.
