Implementation of ultrasound bladder volume scanning for patient’s receiving Intensity-Modulated radiotherapy to the cervix or endometrium: Clinical experience from a United Kingdom Radiotherapy Department.

The clinical suitability of the BioCon-700 bladder scanner for use in radiotherapy patients has been endorsed in a recent study conducted at Gloucestershire Oncology Centre, Cheltenham General Hospital.
The paper states that:
- “The average scanner reading (mean USmean) was 323ml compared with the average Cone Beam CT scan reading (CBCTmean) of 313ml (3% variation)”
- “Staff experience with the scanner overall was positive”
- “The BioCon-700 is suitable for the purpose of daily pre-treatment volume verification, facilitating daily assessment and modification of bladder volume, resulting in reproducible treatment volumes”
- The paper also suggests “that the pre-scan feature on the BioCon-700” improved their ability to accurately identify and capture the full bladder volume. This was supported by the study focus groups (users)”
