At de Smit Medical, we believe that mental health matters every day but Mental Health Awareness Week gives us a special opportunity to come together, raise awareness, and support a cause that touches all of our lives.
This year, our team embraced the spirit of the week by going green. Literally! Staff members dressed in green to show their support and our talented bakers whipped up an array of green-themed cakes that were as delicious as they were vibrant. The atmosphere was full of laughter, conversation, and community spirit, something that’s especially important when work gets busy and we don’t always get the chance to connect.
We’re thrilled to share that we raised £162.53 for the Mental Health Foundation, a charity that’s been at the forefront of mental health advocacy in the UK since 1949. Their mission is to help people understand, protect, and sustain their mental health. They focus on prevention, working in communities to find practical solutions, conducting research, and campaigning for societal change to tackle the root causes of mental health issues.

A huge congratulations to our Star Bakers, Rachael and Helen, whose green creations wowed the judges! And hats off to Simon, who took home the Best Dressed Award for his standout green ensemble.
It was a heartwarming day that reminded us of the power of community and the importance of taking time to check in with one another. Whether it’s over a slice of cake or a quick chat in the kitchen, these moments of connection can make a big difference.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the event such a success. Let’s keep the conversation going, not just this week, but all year round.
