Jane Appleyard has over 30 years experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist and specialises in pelvic health.
Her NHS role involves working as joint clinical lead for Locala Community Continence Advisory service providing NHS services to the people of Kirklees. West Yorkshire.
As part of her clinical lead role along with a specialist nurse, she was involved in redesigning the way continence services were delivered in Kirklees. This work was recognised when Locala Continence Service were listed as finalists in the Nursing Times Awards in 2018 and had an article published in the Nursing Times Journal.
As an independent practitioner she is part of the team at the Plus Health Company in Halifax where she provides specialist physiotherapy for women with continence problems and pelvic floor dysfunction.
She is an affiliate member of the special interest group of Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapists as well as being listed as a practitioner who delivers The Mummy MOT.
Particular interests are in the use of electrotherapy for pelvic floor rehabilitation and she has undertaken postgraduate training for physiotherapists in Balint psychosexual counselling.
Since 2013 she has worked closely with de Smit Medical Systems Ltd producing video tutorials, writing blogs and overseeing the company’s presence on social media.
